Initiation to the finite element method

MODULE TYPE: SDG11
MODULE DESCRIPTION
The objective of the course is to initiate students to basic aspects and applications of the finite element method to analyze structures.
Thermal and linear static analysis of structures under different loading and boundary conditions will be studied.
Structures made of rods, 2D and 3D solids will be investigated. The quality of finite element models for the treatment of industrial problems will be examined.
The ANSYS industrial finite element software will be used for the practical classes.
