MODULE DESCRIPTION
The course introduces the key aspects of managing sustainable logistics and multimodal distribution internationally and the methods to assess and reduce the environmental impacts of logistics. The course aims to recognise future challenges and opportunities in sustainable logistics and global distribution.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On completion of this course, the student
- can describe sustainable logistics and global distribution
- is able to identify the operational environment of and the challenges in international logistics
- is familiar with the decision trade-offs that have to be made when selecting appropriate distribution strategies
- has critical awareness of the impact of logistics on the environment and is familiar with the concepts of 'people, planet, profit' and 'triple bottom line' and their relevance in logistics
- can examine the decisions behind efficient and sustainable freight transport
- can describe how changes in supply chain can effect freight transport decisions and vice versa
- appreciates the employment opportunities arising from successful completion of the course
