Advanced Production Technologies

MODULE TYPE: SDG11
MODULE DESCRIPTION
Advanced Production Technologies (APT) are all the innovative forms of transforming raw materials or components in new products, whatever applying conventional processes or making use of the most recent and cutting-edge science breakthroughs. In this scope, the main objective of the Advanced Production Technologies course is to promote an entrepreneur mindset in the use of these technologies. At the end of the course the students are expected to have acquired advanced knowledge in the context of advanced manufacturing technology, particularly regarding product requirements, raw materials and processing technologies, micro and nanofabrication, advanced additive and subtractive processes, advanced solidification and sintering processes, in addition to design for X, manufacturing economic costs and environmental impacts. It is also expected that students develop their entrepreneurial capacity by taking advantage of the knowledge acquired.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
It is fundamentally expected that student have acquired a critical and innovator sense in relation to the way that products are manufactured, being therefore better prepared to develop optimization projects, problem resolution in this technology area and development of entrepreneur project making use of advanced manufacturing technologies.
