Students obtain knowledge of operations management in order to design, manage and improve operations systems and supply chains. They learn methods for strategic alignment of operations systems, identification and modelling of value chains and organizational processes. They understand the main characteristics of production and service provision processes. They gain knowledge about the main types, characteristics of supply chains. Students are able to apply Lean methods to eliminate “waste” in order to decrease cost and execution time of processes of organization. They are able to interpret the affordances of digitalization for improvement of operations systems.


Understand a relationship between business strategy and operations strategy and are able to strategically orient operations system by defining objectives, key processes and resources constituting operations systems;

To be able to ground the architecture of organizations by selecting process design, departmental structure and other elements;

To be able to model value chains and processes of organization applying best modelling practices and software;

To be able to evaluate capacity, efficiency and effectiveness of operations systems and provide recommendations for improvement;

Understand continuous and strategic leap approaches of improvement of operations systems and able to apply improvement tools;

To be able to apply Lean methods to eliminate waste of organizational processes in order to increase speed and cost efficiency or business processes;

To be able to select a type of supply chain according characteristics of organization and mitigate the effects of bullwhip effect;

Understand tendencies of digitalization and are able to formulate recommendations of improvement of operations systems exploiting digitalization opportunities.
