Desquare - digital signage

Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure; Responsible Consumption and Production; Affordable and Clean Energy

Desquare is developing a cloud platform for digitally sharing information through connected displays, popularly called "digital signage". Our goal is to digitize all types of sign communication - from menus in restaurants and billboards in shops to stairwell registers in properties and LEAN statistics in industries.

A digital sign in the entrance of a stairwell digitizes only part of the communication. The printed signs in elevators and at apartment doors become very expensive, as screens today require not only display hardware but also power and network connection. Screen hardware and costs for installation do not justify the cost of converting printed signs to digital if they are to be of a traditional type.

Is it possible to create a connected sign that is adequate energy-efficient to operate autonomously, i.e. entirely without a physical connection to a power or network connection? Or are there any other solution for our digital signage?
