Eutrophication related to industry, agriculture, sewage and natural run-off has long been a problem for the Baltic Sea resulting in algal blooms and the build-up of anaerobic dead zones. Long-line mussel farming has been identified as a mitigation tool for removal of excess nutrients in eutrophic coastal waters.
The textile industry and how we consume clothes since mid 1950 is enormous and not sustainable. The resources, i e water, pesticides and mainly fossil energy, that you need to produce clothes stands for 80% of the negative effect on the environment and the overproduction is huge.

Finess Hygiene is located in south of Östergötland. We are now in the process of developing a 100% biobased and biodegradable airlaid nonwoven. We are using airlad today as a raw material to produce some of our finished products.
The products we have today with that type of raw material are mainly wipes and protective sheets.
We would like to get ideas to what type of usage that could be for our new material in the home and healthcare sectors.

Today, the vast majority of people in our country live in cities and because of this, they have lost their connection to the countryside and agriculture. The knowledge of modern agriculture is also scarce and therefore many people cannot understand how food is produced and how different aspects are connected and dependent upon each other within the agrifood system. We would like to change this.
